Foundation for Community Livelihood and Development has drilled farmers from Traditional Authority Nthache in Mwanza District in business management.

“We expect to train 143 farmers in the district at the end of the programme,” she said.

In a separate interview, Mwanza district commissioner Malango Botomani said the training will help farmers to become innovative and gain proper skills to run their businesses.

A community member, Moliyo Chimkango from Simlota Village in the area, said he acquired skills on how to run his business.

“I grow crops but after the sales, I fail to manage the money and improve my agribusiness,” he said.

People from Mphande, Thawale, Kagonamwake, Khothi and Kadoole already underwent the training and will be under the supervision of extension workers from the district council.

Farmers in agribusiness learned about gender issues in relation to business beliefs and culture, market research, business vision and finance.

The training programme dubbed Gender Makes Business was supported by GIZ.

Foundation for Community Livelihood and Development is implementing an Agricultural Technical Vocational Education and Training for Women Project in the district.
